I am very skeptical about how many horses were actually saved. Regular rescues have trouble adopting out even a few horses and this place was apparently finding thousands of "good homes". Some horses may have made it through the AC4H meatgrinder to a good home but I think that the vast majority went to "rehoming centers" after they were used to raise dollars.

They appeared to be successful with the ASB's as posters (when TROTwas open) would state the horse had been saved and had just arrived. I know there was a major war on TROT and the rescue segment was shut down due to a few ladies pro and con 4H got into it big time

LOL... This is kinda' funny that some are claiming the horses will 'go to slaughter instead of landing on Boardwalk'... considering...

First of all many horses ended up at slaughter or worse anyway, regardless of AC4H intercepting them... or perhaps because of.
Horses who were misrepresented, horses who were drugged and either crazy, lame or both but no one knew that cause before they evaluated the horse thoroughly, AC4H flipped it for a profit for ol Bri.

Second of all, again irony of all ironies, documents gained via the FOIA [DOH!] show that Moore NEVER ships many of the types of horses he hawks via his 'rescue sales dept.'.
No greys, no minis, no ponies.

ETA link to documents for shipments for 2010, showing no ponies, no minis, no greys shipped:
    http://www.aphis.usda.gov/foia/foia_...1%2FVeterinary +Services+%28VS%29%2F11-020+-+Owner+Shipper+Papers+for+Horses+Shipped+to+Slaugh ter+by+or+for+Brian+Moore&breadcrumb=%7C2011%7CVet erinary+Services+%28VS%29% 7C11-020+-+Owner+Shipper+Papers+for+Horses+Shipped+to+Slaugh ter+by+or+for+Brian+Moore

What's all over AC4Hs broker page right now that they must save by yesterday at 8 p.m. or they will ship to slaughter? Minis, minis, and more minis....

So, the premise for quite a while has been that the 'rescue arm' of Brians business is for those horses he gets cheapity cheap cheap at the sales [confirmed by those who attend NH and Unadilla and see him buy them, incl yours truly- I know that's a shocker right?] but knows he can not send to slaughter because they would get turned back [because of lack of paperwork, being grey, too small, too sick, or whatever].

Meanwhile he sends load after load after load every week, regardless of how many AC4H sells for him, or doesn't sell for him.
The 'rescue' horses have zip, zero, nada to do with his making money shipping to slaughter, and in fact probably just build him a nice financial cushion on the side to make it easier to ship horses to slaughter.

On one hand I am happy she is out of the biz but she was "saving" hundreds of ASB and I expect many other breeds as well.

Easy for all of us to critize especially when we are not going to do anything or are not in a position to do anything.

There were many supporters on the 4H thread last time it was bumped...and a lot of detractors...Well..I guess the detractors got their wish..at the expense of saved horses.

I have no suggestions..this is just my thoughts on it.
    Brian own the horses.
I doubt he can ship them, and I'm sure if people want to still buy them from him, they can call him and do so... or he will [as he has done in the past] take them to Camelot tomorrow or NH on Monday.

For every horse 'saved' another went to slaughter in it's place.
As you know the plants have a contract with these big dealers and the dealer/KB will fill the need... with these horses or others.
I don;t understand why you think these horses or ASBs should be saved from slaughter when you yourself protest that it is humane and very worthwhile, especially since you [claim to have] volunteered at the slaughter plants and saw it with your own eyes how wonderful it is.

Having a public venue notifying/advertising horses on the auction/transport/eventual slaughter or kill/render end of the horse industry is a good thing. Why?

There are breeders, former owners, and let's face it bleeding hearts (not sarcastic, just realistic) who are willing to home some of these horses and that is well and good. Without the public pictures and ID, no horses would move out of the route to oblivion.

It's called marketing. No business sells product without it.
People don't donate to Rescues they have not heard of /seen on the net/ volunteered at either. People don't buy at auctions when they don't know a specific horse is there and they are not present; and no one can be at every auction in the country, yet horses travel many miles in their lives.

As to the rest of the 'method' used by AC4H, no wonder they are being investigated.

All I will say is: It's about time.
The horse I bet on was so slow, the jockey kept a diary of the trip.

    How quickly we forget: http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/sh...highlight=ac4h

I'm glad AC4H has been around to help save some of the horses that have fallen through the cracks. That she let other rescues use her non-profit status doesn't bother me at all. If she tried to make a buck off it - good - she could never have run it as a second job.

I certainly don't support some of their practices and have never been a fan of the "truck is coming mentality"

However I fail to see how being glee at their demise does anything for the horses filtered through the operation that did find their way out of the pipeline. Whom without them perhaps would have simply been another passed on to the meat man.

What good does this do the horses ?

Then she should have paid herself a salary and declared it for taxes and not go around claiming she wasn't taking any money for herself.

I knew it was only a matter of time before the defenders arrived. So many more horses could have been saved with those donation dollars in reputable hands.

Now maybe people will donate to actual rescues rather than this dealer.

I find it rather odd that a couple of the pro slaughter people are now worried about what will happen to the horses...that they might go to slaughter.

Lynwood, read Angela's posts. The trucks are going to go full, it's just a different horse. And the grays and the injured and the lame and the minis...they were never going. It's all been a scam from the get go.

Donate your money to a reputable rescue...there are plenty out there. Aikindale and ReRun come to mind, and Bluebonnet in TX.

As much as I hate to agree with Fairfax, there will be many ASB's with real identities that will never get pulled. She pulled them FOR the rescue group. I have horses out there that I've sold and AC4H's was one of my watches along with Camelot. More Saddlebreds will be dead is what I see, unless they go to the Amish. I will with hold my judgement until ALL the facts are presented.

There is no other person or group who might do this?

I mean if she is pulling them FOR the rescue group are they the ones paying for it? If so surely someone else could go and do the same thing.
