How horrible and tragic-----------I am so sorry for the loss of mare/foal and pain suffered --------and the human pain and grief also. At least someone was there to try and help the mare.

At times like this I always think about how amazing it is that things go right so much of the time.

I am so sorry for the tragic loss of Stella and her foal. That these things happen even with the best of care does not make it easier to face. Stella and the foal are at peace may there be some comfort in that.

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said... how tragic.

So sorry. This is every mare owner's nightmare. My maiden mare and heart horse had a VERY large foal last week. Although presented correctly, he was stuck at the shoulders. We were able to assist and get the colt delivered, but it was the scariest hour of my life. It makes me seriously think twice about breeding her again.

Healing prayers going out to your and your friend, and praying for speedy and uncomplicated deliveries for the rest of the expected babies.

I'm so sorry. I believe another poster on here had a similar experience though I'm blanking on the name.

    RIP Mama and baby.

So very sorry for your double loss. It's like waiting for the "best" gift in the whole world then losing the gift and the gift giver. Hope the connections can get through their grief.

So very, very sorry! Definitely a breeder's worst nightmare, and I am just so sorry. Having been through a traumatic (albeit fast) loss during foaling, I know you and your friend are nursing severely broken hearts. I am just so, SO sorry!

A few years ago, I lost the first foal of the year at 2 days, then a mare/foal in a similar situation to the you witnessed and then a month later, a 2 week old broke her neck in the stall during a bad storm. I had three more mares due...each was incredibly stressful, but went smoothly. I still hope and pray that was my quota of foaling nightmares for the rest of my life.

Breeding is not for the faint of heart!

Jingles the rest of foaling season is uneventful for you both!
