I am not sure Dixieland Band(Northern Dancer) has any eventing competitors out there but everything else in his pedigree is good for sport. And Dixieland Heat ran strongly through 5 and Dixieland Band had a nice race record and held together thru a 4yo year so he is tougher than many. His dam had a fine record being stakes placed herself and as a producer with 10 for 10 winers and 2 stakes winners. I especially like to see Damascus, Gallant Romeo and Grey Dawn. Just a nice sport pedigree and bred to hold up as well. PatO

I thought it was very interesting to have the names like Grey Dawn and Damascus so close! She is small (maybe 15.2) but very cute and one of my students is looking at her. She reminds me of my little Intermediate mare in her build and expression.

Hopefully this will link to a pic:

I looked earlier she goes back to Bull Dog and Teddy both tough sturdy types. These sires along with The Tetrarch were among the sires noted in the Eventing mag several years ago.
i like the variation of her breeding, further back, which includes French, GB and Argentina breeding.

I know Dixieland Heat's owner. Since this horse is a Ky bred they probably won't remember the mare, but I can ask. DH is still breeding!

    Default Grey Dawn

I am just at the begining of the Rolex pedigrees but Grey Dawn is in Can't Fire Me twice. PatO

Does anyone else think she looks SUPER straight through the hock? I am admittedly a bit weak in seeing this particular conformation flaw, but she looks nearly straight up and down to me.
