Default Good Counseling/Self-Help Books for Children of Crazy Mothers??

The title pretty much says it all.

My husband is wonderful, but his mom is emotionally needy and manipulative because of it. We can't afford counseling for him at the moment so I'd love some suggestions for books that will help him hold his boundaries while dealing with her and maybe even keep her from pushing his buttons altogether.

And no, cutting off all contact isn't something he wants to do.

Hiring a hit man is also out of the question. (At least for now.)

    Kidding! (Mostly....)

    Thanks!!

It has very useful information and it was wonderful for me.

I had to completely cut all contact with mine.....it was like if I threw the rope in that well one more time, she was going to pull me all the way in, instead of me pulling her out...sigh

Sign me up! Haven't spoken to my Mom since 2 Thanksgivings ago. Wouldn't help her look for her Credit card(that I saw her throw loose in the bottom of her purse) and she went Ape Sh*#!!! Her loss. (Side bar; I am from Michigan, she lives in TN, and I was visiting and staying 45 min away.

The Toxic Parents book was very good, and as I recall there's another book by the same author.

This book started out as an article in Psychology Today, and the author was overwhelmed by the number of emails and letters received because of it - so wrote this book. Very informative.
