Default 2013 Callaho Benicio foals in North America???

Anyone have any foals on the ground already or are you expecting one in 2013?

I know there are a few born already in Europe that I have seen - just curious who is expecting one over here and out of what mare?

I tried to get semen fom him last year and was unsuccessful. Only one broker for North America and didn't seem too anxious about selling it. A different broker this year and very helpful but doesn't have any in stock. I am using Dante Weltino and he has some very nice foals on the ground. ❤❤❤

There is no frozen available anymore.
In Germany a lot of angry breeders, whose mares did not catch or who were not able to get frozen when he started to be competed last year. THese all have contracts with the stallion station that the stallion station now can not fulfill. No breeding in 2013 for him (means also no frozen was prepared - for German use that would have been not tooo difficult).
No idea how this is going to be solved between breeders, stallion station and the third party owners...

There is an hanoverian breeding farm in Quebec who announced on Fb and their website that they will will breed to Benicio in 2014 for a 2015 foal. I am very curious to know where they got the semen. I tried last year to get some for my De Niro mare but was not successfull. Would have loved to breed her to Benicio in 2013. He was on my top 4 final list for that mare.

I thought I remember reading somewhere that in the fall of 2013 someone in NA that had bought a 2013 in utero Benicio was just waiting for the foal to be weaned and it was going to land in NA sometime in October/November of last year...

Im positive there is one - somewhere - just cant remember who has it!

Yes. I believe that was Elene's foal. Elene (Leena on the forum) sadly passed away last fall. I didn't knew Elene personnaly so I can't tell you what happened to her Benicio foal.

He's doing fab and has hit home in the meantime Here's a video we did for Elene after he was born:

And this is him on May 1 at Gestüt Famos open day:

And at the foal show at the Brokser Stuten- und Fohlenevent where he placed 3rd

Bodhi was passed to Roberta Byng-Morris and travelled home to Canada end of last year with a travel companion. He's going to be Elene's legacy to Canadian Dressage and I'm happy I got to know Elene and was part of this vision of hers.

On a lighter note we had another Benicio foal in 2013 out of Rizieres (Romanov-Warkant-Hohenstein). This is her:

We had a gorgeous Chocolate Palomino colt by Callaho's Benicio. He is just beautiful and with great elastic movement: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqb79QHceN0 . The Video was taken when he was still very young. A picture was taken several weeks later at the foal show where he then already showed how dark he will be. He is the darkest color of Palomino I ever had: http://th4.bilder-hochladen.tv/j341IwqJ.jpg

I saw on Superior Sires that they will be carrying his semen this year at $1650/ dose. Is there success with his frozen semen?

Is it just me or does he seem bigger in front than behind? Impressive front end/neck etc but his hindquarters seem less so. Leaving out how this may/may not affect movement/ability, it is just something that irks me a bit. From a purely aesthetic point of view I prefer a massive bottom to match the big impressive front.

    Does anyone else see this?

Does anyone know if this semen that is available for North American use is newly frozen or part of the older batches? My understanding from a friend that did successfully breed her mare to him for a 2013 foal, one cycle and the mare was confirmed in foal. She is based in the UK.

I havent personally heard of any issues with his frozen at all
