We had a mare a number of years ago who had been poked dead into chest with a basketless ski pole by some cretin before we got her. She healed beautifully and went on to have many years of happy life. It did take hours of cleaning and draining...

    Jingles for Luner...

Jingles! Been there, done that as well, and had a very good outcome. It is nerve racking and my vet finally had to yell at me to sit down, put my head between my knees, and chill out.

Who wouldn't love a big brown OTTB with a star...love his name ANYway. You know he's something special with a name like that.
    Big jingles!

Thanks so much to everyone. Man those jingles are powerful stuff! Today alone this wound has been working overtime to fill back in up to surface level. I am not even kidding. There's almost no hole today. I was granted permission to wash his leg below the shaved area and he stood and grazed patiently. He is quickly getting spoiled as I come up with things that might help or that he needs. So now he has a new sheet that will hopefully cover his leg as he lays down, a new halter, and a boredom ball.

Yep I am a sucker. But he's so cute. Oh and not sure if I mentioned it before, my first act of ownership was to change his barn name from "Luner" to "Lunar." It makes more sense now.

Emily my friend, as your second act of ownership, please change his barn name to 'Yardsale'.

    It's just too good.

    Monstr,

Oddly you're not the first to say that. Hmmmmmm I wonder how big/good he could be!

Looks like he's healing quickly! Still sending jingles your way and watching for updates.

The name Yardsale is amazing. Seriously, how many of us have watched Antiques Roadshow and heard some outrageous amount quoted by an expert for a hideous vase that a little old lady bought for $3 at a yard sale? I think it has that "diamond in the rough"-esque aura! He may very well be your "special find"!

Amazing progress on healing in just a few days! Jingles from New Hampshire for a complete recovery! Add me to the list of "I like his name". It's cool.

Agree, but for a nickname, you can call him "Sally".
