I couldn't sleep, turned the radio on to hear gun fire, small explosions...someone taped what they were hearing in Watertown. It sounded like a war zone.
Watertown still in lockdown for the other suspect. The one they had the shoot out with died.
    Unbeleivable.

I was watching the Skype conversation on the news with a witness to the shooting. He was in his apartment while everything happened right outside his building. He said an hour after the shooting, he and his roommates found bullet holes and a bullet in their apartment. Crazy times.

Turn on the national news! Taller blue hat suspect dead, white hat at large, armed and dangerous. Last night they apparently tried a robbery at 10:20 pm, they shot and killed a MIT policeman, carjacked a Mercedes SUV near MIT, tried to escape, released the driver after 30 minutes, and tried to bust out of the police cordon towards Watertown, firefight, bombs thrown from car, MTA police officer wounded and later died, suspect two (blue hat) escapes, and an office complex in Watertown is being searched, suspect one dead of shrapnel and blast wounds (from IED strapped to his chest), IED unexploded around body of dying suspect one. Suspect One burning in hell with his buddies McVeigh, Saddam and Osama Bin Laden.

Second suspect is still being hunted, and is armed with bombs and guns. If you are in or near Watertown stay indoors. Watertown and neighboring communities' citizens and businesses are asked to stay home, not go out for any reason, all commuter lines are shut. Newtown, Walton, Cambridge, Watertown, and other communities are on lockdown. No driving, or going outside. This suspect has grenades and guns and will use them. They are reporting that he and the other suspect moved here over a year ago, and the second man might have come here on a student visa. I guess my domestic terrorism was wrong.

Looks like that MIT campus policeman who died saved a lot of people on the MIT campus.

The MBTA police officer has not died. He was critically injured and is at a local hospital being treated.

It is now reported they killed the MIT officer while he was in his police car-RIP officer.

Then robbed the 7-11, carjacked the SUV, released the driver, then tried to run a police cordon, leaving a trail of grenades and bombs, there was a shootout where the MTA officer was wounded, suspect one was shot, and had an IED strapped to him, and suspect one (blue hat) died at the Beth-Israel hospital. Watertown, and neighboring towns are on lockdown, no driving, no mass transit, if you go outside in that area you are at risk. The second suspect is armed with bombs, guns, and is being actively sought by police, FBI, and they are searching Watertown door-to-door looking for this murdering terrorist. Local residents are wandering out of their houses-not a time for sightseeing unless you want a gun in your face.

Again, great work by local cops. It's the local cops who run towards danger and end up being killed. They are heroes. I hope they get the other bomber and that no more cops or innocent civilians are killed.

Remember when you get angry because you are caught for speeding that that cop who stopped you is the same one who might stop a bomber (or robber) and be killed doing his job. And with low pay. Anytime a cop helps you, you should write an "attaboy" letter to his superiors. And cc a copy to the cop. The letter will be put in his file, to counter all the letters from speeders who deny speeding and get mad at cops. (My Atlanta cops framed some of the attaboy letters.)

Wasn't the cop a MIT campus cop? Doesn't matter, because all cops are sworn to protect all people. And even die for them.

There were two officers -- one at MIT and one elsewhere. The MIT officer died.

JanM above said the "MTA"—which in Boston is "MBTA"—officer had died. The only 2 people who are dead are one of the suspects and the MIT police officer. I am currently sitting on my couch 2 towns away from all of this action, glued to the local NBC (WHDH) news station. The national news was reporting the MBTA officer had died, and that is FALSE information.

For people who are interested in following this via local channels but are out of state, please use these local stations: www.whdh.com, www.boston.com, www.bostonglobe.com, and others.

I have no idea how I'm going to get ANY work done today with this going on.

If you live anywhere near MIT and Boston, stay home! If you meet this guy on the street, he's going to use you as a hostage. And he won't care if you are killed.
    Stay home.

How the heck did the carjack victim not get killed. He must have an interesting story to tell.

So now they are saying that the suspects are Russians with military training.
Earlier the claimed one of them (the one still on the loose) was an Indian-American kid who went missing from Brown University about a month ago.
