Default Anyone know what these lines are on my horses leg?

Anyone know what has caused these lines on my horses legs? They are hard raised lines of skin on the outside of both hind legs, on her gaskin. Skin feels very hot. This leg has more on than the other.

They look like blood vessels. How hard is "hard"?

Legs not been wrapped at all. The ridges moved when i ran my hand over them last night so they could be blood vessels. I took this photo 4 days ago. This morning i could feel the lines but not see them, this afternoon her leg feels normal again although still hot. She has just been lying in the straw, when she got up there were no lines. She has had a couple of weeping scabs on her pasterns, vet who saw her Friday said its a vasculitis not mud fever so maybe the lines on her gaskin are something to do with that? The scabs on her pasterns have gone except for the original ones and her legs feel a bit cooler today. She had scabs on her pasterns a few weeks ago and these lines were on her leg then too, the scabs healed and her legs were cold, she stayed in for a month to allow them to heal totally and because we had snow and then lots of water about. She went out for 20 mins (in muddy field, always wet here) and day later the scabs were back.

She still has the lines on her gaskin so yesterday i clipped the hair off to see what was under them (pics) which is veins/blood vessels. They are still hot. She has been itching them with her teeth. She also has spots/hives on her head and neck, and new scabs on her pasterns and heels from getting dusty soil on her legs on Saturday.
