My sister in law is there watching the race. Since she is already a widow with two small children (my brother passed away when they were 6 and 8) it is an understatement to say I was relieved that she was not near the explosions.
Right now they're saying 2 dead and 23 injured. How horrific. The video footage is just so disturbing. My heart just goes out to those who- in the moments following the explosion, just went right for the road barriers to get to the poor folks on the sidewalk.
my local station is reporting from affiliates up there that addt'l devices have been found but not gone off.
Yes, they found 2 unexploded devices in addition to the two that exploded. They believe one was inside Marathon Sports and the second outside. Businesses and hotels in the area have been evacuated. No report of a bomb in Brookline.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people and families affected by today’s bombing at the Boston Marathon.
Myself and colleagues are safe. I have no faith in humanity. Very, very sad. I've lived in and worked around Boston since 1980. The Boston Marathon is a relaxing day to cheer on your friends and family running in the race. Something to look forward to not fear.

My cousin's girlfriend ran the marathon and finished approximately 10 minutes before the first explosion. My cousin was there spectating and cheering her on. They are both okay, but that is all anyone has heard from them so far.
