Default Vet Suggestions for PPE needed- Cincinnati, OH Area

    Hi All-
I'm looking into a tb at a small private farm that's about 40 miles SE of Cincinnati. I'm not local, and need suggestions for a decent sporthorse vet that ideally could come to the farm. The horse is possibly an upper level prospect so I'd really like a knowledgeable vet, and the only one that I've worked with in the area, I was really unimpressed with. Please help! Thanks in advance!

You could try Lebanon Equine Clinic. They are north of the 275 loop but they have 6 I think? vets on staff and service pretty much the whole Cincinnati area. I've used them for years, top notch vets.

Lexington is not far and I don't think you could do better than Chris Newton at Rood & Riddle.

Delta... I'd love to go to Rood & Riddle but the horse is about 2 hours away and they aren't willing to trailer... It's probably worth a phone call, but I'm guessing R&R doesn't make farm calls 2 hours away

Lebanon Equine have been my vets for about 30 years and I think they're great -- reputable, reliable, and willing to pass a client on to Rood and Riddle if it's something they can't handle. Bill Lukens is particularly good with ortho stuff, but I think he's taken a back seat this past year.

Dr. Barbara Schmidt is in Union KY. I believe that she breeds Hanovarians (kick me if I got her breed wrong) So I would think she was very sporthorse savvy.

I was going to suggest Lebanon Equine as well. I used them on a PPE on my WB 6 years ago and they were great.

    Bill has retired, FYI.
