Default What am I seeing in this photo?

    Photo.

It looks like a stick (the longer one) has been shallowly speared through the dog and is poking out the other end. That can't possibly be, can it?

    What am I seeing?
Any Protection Sports enthusiasts? This is practice for KNPV.

I'm not into the protection sports, but my guess would be that it is an agitation whip.

Flexible whip that's partially vanished into a thick coat.

There might have been some touch up work done on the photo too.

There's some weird pixelation where the whip/stick comes out of the dog's ribs and a little bit of blurring at the bit nearest the spine. I don't think its anything sticking through the dog itself.

Oh thank goodness! I know the sport uses agitation and rattle sticks but this image the stick looks still. I am so relieved to know it's just a trick of the eye with a low res photo.

I don't agree with some aspects of KNVP but to think they were superficially injuring dogs? Phew.

Here's where the image is from -- it looks like they're either doing training or a demo of the training process.

Also, this seems to be the same dog, but he/she's in fine shape (also shows the training tools threedogpack linked too).
