A four year old? That seems young, not enough experience to handle making a movie.

I also didn't think he was very pretty. Wonder why they had to have a thoroughbred?

I was wondering that too, why did they have to have a TB, the guy mentioned it like....twice. A non-typey Andy or Luci could have done the job just as well.

I'd imagine that he's ONE of the horses used for Silver in the movie. Most movie productions use multiple horses for on screen "character" horses. I think Shadowfax was played by a few horses in LOTR. Same with the Black Stallion, where they used at least two horses..Maybe he looks better running so they chose a thoroughbred?

What breed(s) did they use in the TV series?

    This is what I found:
    http://www.gifthorsegallery.ca/horsefilm.asp

    Says Silver #1 was a Morab/TWH cross and Silver #2 was a Morab/Saddlebred cross.

    Here is another site: http://www.ranger.riverviewparkdsm.com/silver.htm

Maybe because there aren't any white Andalusians or Lustianos? Greys, yes. But no dominant white or pinto patterns that can produce max white individuals in either breed.
