Default REAL MEN Ride Side Saddle!

Rewriting the side saddle book! Of course, as the photo shows, we require a bit of "extra protection".

My mom took lessons from an old Preacher once upon a time, who due to infirmaries of age would ride side saddle....reportedly to church, throw his robe over, dirty boots sticking out the bottom, conduct service, then ride home.

He's a great laugh. Thats not extra protection btw, it's adjusting the fit of the saddle a little bit for him.

It was not uncommon to see men riding aside after the Great War (WWI) There were a great many amputees. They would ride (and foxhunt) in near side or off side sidesaddles depending on which leg had been amputated.

For riders suffering from hip arthritis or other infirmities that compromise their ability to ride astride - sidesaddle may be just the ticket.

I recall seeing a pic of Mike Plumb and his then-wife doing a pas-de-deux - both sidesaddle.

What is the quote that goes something like...If the world made sense, men would ride sidesaddle?

I believe that quote was by Rita Mae Brown, but I could be wrong.
