I love how the discount is juxtaposed with the idea that this is a ZERO DRAMA barn...

    ...not for long.

I work in a heavily male-dominated field. Men are just as prone to gossip and form cliques as women.

Oh, my! That seems a bit forward. Cyber-dating taken to the horse world in a weird way. It does seem like a discriminatory business practice though. And as everyone knows, the only man who'd be attracted to a horse with all that hair is, um....not going to be able to legally marry in Oregon if you know what I mean!

That would be interesting, though I wonder if she could make an argument for it providing a benefit of some sort...or of male boarders being at a disadvantage. (Hey, there are so many women at barns...affirmative action!) Or it's a sneaky way to get women to board, in the hopes there are lots of men taking her up on the discount...

Somebody needs to write a story for one of the men's magazines: "Where the Girls Are".

My husband claimed to be taking riding lessons in Bahrain so that we could enjoy riding together. The fact that he had a sexy blond Dutch instructor barking orders at him and demonstrating how to move his pelvis with the horses movement was just an added bonus, I'm sure. Regardless, he came back a much better rider than me

On a side note, how in the hell can anyone provide full board for $150 a month - much less $100 a month. I keep mine at home, and it's a lot of work; and we rent our place for a reasonable price and have a very non-fancy (redneck) type setup.

Conclusion: I'm adding this place to my list of reasons that I want to retire to the PNW - DH can get a $50/mo. discount

Is it any more discriminatory than bars where ladies drink for free on Friday nights, or clubs where women get in free before/after a certain hour or on a certain night? (ladies night?) At least here she's still making the men pay, just pay less. Then she'll constantly ask them to lift the heavy stuff, since they're stronger. And fix stuff, since they know how (it's genetic, of course). [sarcasm]

I was also slightly amused by the random Friesian pic...with no other mention of it at all in the ad

Be assured, the boys I know are well aware of it, and the envy of their buddies, who wouldn't a few years ago be caught dead in breeches.

This is in my neck of the woods.

This BO has been filling Corvallis CL with ads for spots. Sometimes the hairy friesian is in it.

There is a lot of self-care here and $150 sounds right for that. But I have no idea how they can afford to do full care for that price. The math just ain't right even if they owned the place outright.

I don't think the pro-male thing would get her cited for discrimination as boarding doesn't count as (human) housing.

My horse might be joining me here in OR, so I could be persuaded to go check this barn out. Hey, he's male but ball-less..... does that count?

Thanks for the chuckles. I laughed out loud at "drama-less barn'... not for long!

    Basically I'm thinking- WHAT?

What if a boarder is female but identifies as male?

    Hey, $50 is $50.

Now yer talkin! Anti-descrimination regarding transgender people is a hot topic right now. I'd identify male for $50.

No more discriminating than "senior" day.

Yeah, I'd pay $150 (if it's a month, not week) drama or no drama.
