    Default I gotta brag

I finally sent a TB gelding that I've had since he was six months old off to be started. He's at a Western/trail trainer. Horse is very old to be started.

When I first sent him, the prognosis was that he might make a "good horse." The longer they kept him, the better the description was. First it went to "very good horse", then to "excellent" and yesterday the trainer said he was going to be a "fantastic" horse. They also keep talking about how smart he is. I'm so thrilled I could bust my buttons!

He's been with them since the middle of December.

Congrats to you and your boy! How old is he now?

And I gotta say those TB's are a lot smarter than what people give them credit for! They're pretty special horses in my books.

And this thread is worthless without out pics!!! So get on it!

Yeah, this one would have been lost without a bump.

    Where are some pictures?

I too would bust buttons if the trainer delivered such good news.

It's really fun watching someone else's reaction change as they get to know your horse. Congrats, Viney!

    I agree on wanting pics!
My horse is a dressage diva so I don't have to be.

Well done, Viney! What made you choose him (the horse) in the first place?

His dam line. It's all Galbreath breeding and I love the old Galbreath lines.

    www.pedigreequery.com/slews+dancin+man.

I went over to meet both his sire and his dam and him before I bought him. He was bred at Miss. State.

He was 7 1/2 before I sent him off. There are reasons why it took me so long.

He has had a fraught history. Had the snots for months as a weanling and we found out from anaphylactic shock that he's allergic to either gentamycin or naxcel, but have been too scared to find out which one. Broke his jaw as a two year with concurrent ulcers and almost lost an eye when he was four. But he's never taken a lame step and still hasn't.

Funny thing is that his dam was small and his sire was about 16h. I thought for sure he was 15.3 when he went away. But the trainers measured him at 16.2. He must have put on a growth spurt when I wasn't looking and I just never noticed.

I don't have any good pictures of him, alas. I kept trying and failing.
