Default U.S. to increase 'species testing' on imported meats!

Could it be that the FDA has been reading some of the posts at COTH?

Because we have this groovy new technology, we're gonna use it. All KINDS of things have been in our food since the time of the beginning--they'll find plenty of nematode and insect DNA, I assure you!

I put it in the same category as the vets suddenly wanting you to get your horse bone-scanned and MRI'd for every little owwie that won't block, hoof-test or jump out at them at the jog.

considering that they found a whole ton of fish not being the species that it was labeled to be, I am sure it's a bit more than making the equipment pay for itself.

Seems like food fraud is very wide spread.
Up until now they only got caught if a pathogen impossible to get from the species on the label showed up, like many years ago the prime beef being kangaroo....

With a little luck it will have lasting effect of the positive kind on the food industry and the over all conscience about what we put in our mouths.
