    Default CoolStance/PowerStance - experience/thoughts?

i was talking to my farrier yesterday and he was telling me about what great results he's had with his OTTBs by feeding CoolStance and/or PowerStance (depending on the horse obviously). has anyone else had any experience with this stuff? how did you use it and why? what results did you see?

There was just a thread on this--do a search for "copra."

We feed Renew Gold at our barn (Coolstance, rice bran, yeast and flax seed) and love it. Horses are fat, shiny, and much more focused in their work.

am i understanding it correctly that these things (the coolstance and the renew gold) are fed as a replacement for grains/hard feeds? that you only supplement them with an all around vitamin and quality hay? interesting...

The coolstance can be fed alone or in a mixed feed, according to their own website. I don't use it on it's own.

(I have no experience of the renew gold.)

Crimsonsky: yes, that's correct. I feed hay, Renew Gold, Biostar multivitamin "cookies," chia seeds and Cosequin ASU. To add weight after a colic (horse stopped drinking in extreme weather), I've added timothy pellets, but I'll stop those as soon as his weight is back to normal.

True you can feed Coolstance solo, but I add a bit of alfalfa pellets to mine, along with vitamins and Powerstance. Have seen great results with my guy, great coat, calmer, etc.
