Thorowgood Cob T6 with xw gullet. Horse in question is a 13.3 Fjord and this is one of a few that a saddle fitter recommended. What do you guys think? It feels a little snug in the shoulder - wonder if I should order the xxw gullet??
I'm waiting to hear back from her so I thought I'd see what the masses think
I rode him in it Saturday and I really like it. I didn't feel behind the motion, so to speak and my balance felt really good.
In some of the photos it looks a bit perched, which would suggest that it's not wide enough. However, it also looks like you could slide it back a tad, too. I know it's hard with those mutton-withered horses!
Part of the problem with these short backed little guys is that if you move the saddle back you're sitting on their poor kidneys!
I would try the XXW and see how that looks - make sure it's got enough spine clearance once you girth it up though. Also, look under the flap and make sure it's in contact and not making a "bridge" between whithers and the back of his ribcage.
