What a meaty article. It's worth taking the time. On my first, shallow run-through I thought this,

"In America there are very few Iberic horses. Few people ever feel classical training horse on a classically bred horse. There is a different feel to a horse that has that haunch equilibrium."

Was very interesting. It is a very different experience to have this opportunity. As brief as my exposure was, it changed my world view when it came to riding, my expectations, and aids.

    I liked this quote:

"If you can't ride through the horse's issues and deal with it, you never get to the end result."

    I liked this quote:

His art was his song to God. That is why he told me to build my indoor arena like a cathedral. As a child I really perceived that he was happy seeing you on his horses being quietly exuberant. It is that joyful quiet like in a church. That is how I feel, it is a prayer to God, a song, a voice.
This is a perfect description of a sort of quiet, transcendental quality I've always been searching for the right words to describe. I've seen it in just a few riders, a few times in my life and I admire it so.

And the part about haunch equilibrium -- too true!!! I'd never ridden a spanish horse or lip before I bought mine and boy has it been an odd, different feeling.

RIP Sasha, best dog ever, pictured shortly before she died, Death either by euthanasia or natural causes is only the end of the animal inhabiting its body; I believe the spirit lives on.
