    Default The Movie Thread

I am sitting in the back room right now while my husband finishes watching Zero Dark Thirty without me.

    Big thumbs down.

On the other hand, we have seen some terrific movies lately, such as...

    The Sessions
    Searching for Sugar Man

    Any recommendations?

Loved Argo. I helped a couple from LA who knew the make-up character in Argo with a Calif. Coastal Commission permit and they said it was pretty true to life. I really loved that movie, Ben Afleck was great, very understated.

Just watched "Game Change" loved that ! I want to watch The Sessions, sans children.

Walked out of Silve Linings Playbook...that was dreadful and unwatchable, with the exception of Jennifer Lawrence. Loved Argo!!! Also loved Parental Guidance, it was good brain popcorn.

Was dragged to Olympus has Fallen the other day, but man was it amazing!! I'm usually not one to pick action movies but it was exceptionally good and I would totally see it again!

    Sarah's Key -- EXCELLENT movie.

Argo was good, especially as it draws attention to a bit of history that few knew much about, then or now.

No it wasn't, it was Hollywoodized beyond belief.
Revoluntionary Guard chasing the plane down the runway firing at it..... gimme a break. In reality they walked into the airport with minimum fuss and got on the plane and left.
Also, the Canadians got very little credit in the movie, where in reality the whole operation was 80-90% their idea and execution.
Here, this is what President Jimmy Carter had to say about it in a recent interview.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cr5XJ8dbJtg

Loved Sarah's Key (and the book), but Argo... rewriting of history à la Ben Affleck... did not like it. Totally agree with Mickeythe Marcher!
