Default Mike Plumb moves up to Training Level

This past weekend at Southern Pines HT 2, Mike Plumb took his young ride, Skip, out at Training level. (You may remember this horse mentioned in the article about Mike from last July-- I bought this horse at the FEH Championships in '07, and Mike has raised him from scratch with all groundwork, etc.) The Carolina Horse Park hosted and orchestrated an incredible event with super courses, so it was a pretty special weekend all around.

Anyhow, today Mike turns 73yo, so I thought I'd post a pretty cool video update. (If anyone would like his cell # to call and wish him a happy birthday, let me know. )

I would use that horrible green thumb to "like" this, but I can't bring myself to click on it.
So wonderful that he has walked this (long and tough) path and is enjoying making up a new horse.
Please give him my best regards! Way too shy to call him but...

At 73, he still produces a calm, tactful ride. Happy Birthday! Mike.

Happy Birthday, JMP! Although I have never met him, he has been a favorite of mine since I was a little girl.

There's so much to learn from watching Mike ride and 99% of it is invisible.

    Happy Birthday, Mike!

What a lovely round. I made my coworkers watch it today at the hospital and they couldn't believe how spry he is. Happy Birthday JMP!

PS--Glenbaer, I was the dressage steward at SP1 with the hand splint on. Your kind words made my day. Well, that and getting to chat with JMP and all the lovely horses. Anyway, just wanted to say a sincere thanks for being so nice. As a smurf, it means that much more when the BNTs are also so darn awesome.

Wow! He keeps on like that, and he'll make a pretty good event rider someday!

Seriously, thanks for posting that video. Especially interesting in light of the other thread on rider position x-country. I spent the whole time admiring his seat and leg, so had to rewatch so I could pay attention to that very nice horse!

OK. Then we have to sit and watch him ride and you get to narrate or translate! Oh I wish before I die I could hang with someone like this.

Wow. I saw a few things but yeah, like you said JER, there's a ton of stuff there! I better go watch it a few more times.

Why can't people learn from watching a master like this? It amazes me.

Sigh...my poor pony. Before I bought Danny, Andrea schooled my him and JMP would hop on him and give him a whirl sometimes. Now the poor thing is stuck with me riding him...

Happy Birthday Mike! (Danny says hi!)

I tried to hold off for most of the day, not knowing if she would mind, but seeing as she has now posted on this thread, I cannot hold back any longer. Im hoping she is ok with this.

Today is also the birthday of my incredible owner, friend, confidant, and encourager, our own JER! Between her knowledge, wisdom, and talents, she has led an incredible life, and continues to be one of the kindest, most fun people I know. She is a true class act, and we are all so fortunate to know her, whether online or in person. This is very much a lucky and special day. Happy birthday!

    Thumbs up

Thanks for posting that lovely video of JMP's ride. Nice horse! I love Mike's hands-how soft and still they are.

Happy birthday to JMP and JER!
