Default General ammy vs. pro question re: stud fees

Could probably post this in Off Topic, but maybe the answer will differ depending on the governing body and I'm really only curious about USEF rulings.

If an amateur rider purchases a stallion, shows said stallion in amateur classes, and then decides to stand the stallion for a stud fee do they lose ammy status? Is a stud fee considered income?

    No.

If you're not receiving compensation for riding or training, you're not in violation of the amateur rule.

That does not affect amateur status. Accepting bona fide remuneration for services as a breeder is in the rulebook as an allowable activity for amateurs.

In the rule book, an amateur is permitted to
    i. Accept remuneration for providing service in one’s capacity as a: presenter or panelist at a Federation licensed officials’ clinic, competition manager, competition secretary, judge, steward, technical delegate, course designer, announcer, TV commentator, veterinarian, groom, farrier, tack shop operator, breeder, or boarder, or horse transporter.

Default The owner of Iron Spring Farm would have a fit if they changed the rules...

One of the most successful breeders in the country and an ammy to boot.
