Default The Day Sports Illustrated Reported About the "Riot" at the Devon Horse Show

Yep, back in the day Sports Illustrated reported on horse events, including near riots by riders protesting show management! My, my, we've become quite tame these days, haven't we?

Ah, but Mike, we were a lot more "vocal" in all things, horsey and not horsey, in those days. The article says that the AHSA would have to consider additional actions against the protesters. I wonder what was done?

This one sentence made my morning. "Listen to me—stop this! Think of your country! Think what the Russian papers will say about this, tomorrow!"

I admire the creative spunk of the riders!

    BAHAHA...this is my favorite:

Danny Lopez came in bareback on his Centaurus and jumped three fences before those ahead of him were pushed over by the jump crew.

    That is AWESOME!

I did not show up on the Devon scene till the late 1970's. I would have loved to have seen that.

Oh my word! I don't recall hearing anything about that. I can just see all those folks getting up in arms.
