Doris was away from her nest for some reason yesterday (she hardly seems to leave) and I peeked in (her nest is at eye level) and there are two eggs.

She is so brave for a wild bird. She just sits there as I walk by and talk to her.

Remember a little less than half the time, that is not Doris but her mate who is sitting on the eggs. It is really difficult to tell the male and female dove apart.

I had two doves for quite a number of years. Both males and very much bonded to each other. They too loved to harass the cat. I would recommend getting two because seeing them interact is a treat.

I promise I will keep everyone in lots of pictures of my little dove baby. We won't be getting him/her for another 4 week's. The breeder won't let them go till they are at least 5 weeks old. I'm hoping this baby positively influences our parrots vocals. Right now he's on a fire alarm kick. The breeder said she has many birds that she's integrated after they are of breeding age and they have bonded fine so long as they weren't years old. She is working on getting certain genetic color mutations for her flock. We will probably get another after we know what we've got she just didn't have any young adult birds available and was selling out faster than she could get babies born. That's the main reason we opted for reservingbaby.
