Cool Happy Friday to the Edward fans -- video from Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage

Happy Friday, Edward Gal fans. Here are a couple of videos from last week at the Reem Acra FEI World Cup Dressage event, where he placed 2nd just barely behind Adelinde Cornelissen.

    Edward on Glock's Undercover (78.617)

Here's the winning ride with Adelinde and Jerich Parzival (79.979)

I may be biased, but I thought Edward had a better ride, although her horse is yummier and flashier.

And he won a prize with his 18-year-old stallion Interfloor Next One, a gentleman and a scholar:

    Enjoy.

They sure are looking like a polished team now, that's for sure.

Here are the 3rd and 4th place rides from the event:

Well the judge at left field, Mme Merrygoround gave that ride at the Acra World Cup to Edward Gal, and Undercover
Some riders change their horse, they change their saddle, they change their teacher; they never change themselves.

I was just puzzling over the score sheets because they weren't making sense. Then I realized the scores from the web site were for the freestyle and the videos I posted are from the grand prix tests. So, I will go back and correct the scores, but don't hold me to them.

    Grand prix results

    GP freestyle results

Now, where the heck are those freestyle videos? I must find them.

Thanks so much. Awaiting your freestyle results!

That Don Johnson is a weird horse. He looks downhill and, just odd. He obviously moves his legs, but it doesn't look right. And at the walk you could clearly see how developed he was on the bottom of the neck.

Still can't find the freestyles but there's at least a clip of Adelinde's freestyle in this video from FEI:

And this little interview with Adelinde talking about her freestyle. She is so very charming.

I think, in comparison with the more modern Dutch type horse, that Werth's more substantially built Hanovarians sometimes have a less elegant way of going. And then, riders have their personalities, preferences, and idiosyncratic styles. Werth seems to favor big, strong, horses with extensions and Gal...well, I have no difficulty picturing Gal's passaging into eternity.

Don Johnson does move weird, regardless of 'type.' I couldn't watch very much of that video because he looks like two different horses - the rear end of one and the front of another. Then there's the upside down neck. Ugh.

He doesn't look like any of her other horses. He reminds me of Painted Black, whom I saw in Vegas. Black is a very strangely built horse with a bizarrely long neck. Look at Don Johnson's neck at the walk--really wrong. He obviously can move his legs, which is probably why she got him. But is it correct if it's not through the back? And I agree the front and back end look like they're not moving together. I thought they were way overscored compared Donperignon despite his issues at the end.

Interfloor next one is NOT a stallion - any more ;-) He is a gelding.

Wow, Undercover's really come on since the Olympics. I thought he looked about ready explode during all three of his rides in London and required some tactful riding from Edward indeed. Here looks so much more relaxed and settled in his work and is a delight to watch.
