The Wise Equestrian saddles have been popular with eventers for several years now, and they get discussed quite a bit on the Eventing forum. You can find lots of feedback about them there.

As soon as I saw that, I thought, "man would that solve the whole awkward sweating problem during the summer"... Then I realised the 'unparalleled airflow' is for the horse's back... awkward...

My eventer friend got one from Phillip Dutton at Rolex a few years ago. Her and her horse loved it. I think it's weird looking but to each his own.

The ad says something like it breathes through the hole... I don't think I want by saddle btrathing on my whoo whoo while I ride.

I've actually heard some pretty positive reviews on them, or that some don't even notice the hole is really there. I'd be curious to try one out given the opportunity.

Here's a thread from over in Eventing re the "holey saddles" http://www.chronofhorse.com/forum/sh...uot-holes-quot

Not surprised to see a man helped design that... Convenient hole placement.

    Lol...you all are silly.

They are very comfy and ride very nicely balanced. You notice the hole for maybe your first trip around the ring, and then you don't. I like it when I tried it, but it wasn't the right saddle for my guy. Leather quality is on par with the much higher end French saddles, so they are lovely looking and very sticky.

This just looks a lot like the old Army Cavalry McClellan design.

A lady at my barn has one and loves it. I inquired about those saddles, but they didn't have a used one with the specs I was looking for. They are nice saddles, but definitely more popular with the eventing crowd. I believe they debuted at Rolex 2010.

Those were purportedly ultra comfy for the horses but not so much the riders. I think they were trying to alleviate pressure on the spine since riders spent such long hours mounted. I wonder if Dutton was inspired by the McClellans?
