    Default Sperm Motility

We often encounter reports of sperm motility that we are almost certain is an unintentional misrepresentation on the positive side as a result of
over-estimation based upon a microscope visual evaluation. To assist breeders, we have today put up a new article on our website entitled "How
Progressively Motile Are Those Sperm?" which - in addition to explanations - shows a variety of short videos recorded using CASA (Computer Assisted
Semen Analysis), giving an accurate report of the motility at the end of the clip. We hope that these may prove of assistance for people wishing to
improve their estimation skills. You may be surprised at some of the results!

The correct numbers makes it really frustrating for a Stallion Owner. Many Stallion Owners advertise 80-90% progressive motility right on their websites...and many Mare Owners have those percentages stuck in their heads.

So even though those numbers may actually be in the 50-60% range when using CASA for semen analysis, saying those realistic numbers to Mare Owners makes them nearly faint. At least now, I can send a link to the article the Mare Owners. Hopefully, this article will convince Stallion Owners & veterinarians, one at a time, to change their ways and put a more accurate and realistic figure on progressive motility.
