My 9 year old daughter competed in her first real show this weekend (other than walk only and lead line). She rode in the Academy division of a Saddlebred show and did fantastic. She had a great attitude (most importantly), was a good sport (congratulated the little girl who won the class) and rode really well. She sat a spook thrown in by the lesson horse, stayed on it and did not give up.
I am so proud of her. A year ago she started riding again and has really been trying hard. It is such a different world for this dressage rider (but I love the bling!!), but if she is riding and trying hard, that is what really matters to me.
Congrats! We have our first academy show of the year up here on Sunday, crossing my fingers the forecast is wrong and we don't get snow Saturday night! I hope none of my school horses pull any wily moves out of their old bones
