Mikala Gundersen would not talk about whether My Lady, a 13-year-old Danish Warmblood mare (Michellino x Itterstern), was still affected by the Grand Prix performance Thursday that suffered some “disturbance” in the warm up.
My Lady, she said, “does not have a lot of experience” and became “very upset… she was terrified” by the warm up of another horse that she would not identify.
But dressage-news.com witnessed the horse and rider as Van the Man ridden by Cesar Parra of the United States. The pair received a verbal warning from the CDI steward. The pair did not compete in the Freestyle but are scheduled for the Grand Prix Special Saturday.
“I felt sorry for her having to go through a little drama before going into ring,” she said, “so she lost her confidence.”

So the idea is that Parra was 'harassing' My Lady and Gunderson in the warm up with the intention of freaking the horse out?

I know that Parra has a history and that a lot of horses (and I have a Michellino mare myself... wackadoodle is a term used often around here... ) competing in the ULs have a little bit extra wackadoodle in them... but it seems like they are stretching a little bit...

It's a shame when the "big boys" practise gamesmanship. (or that their horses are so afraid of them that they can't keep it together)

The young lady had trouble keeping it together as well it seems.

I know of another person, ompletely reliable source, who chose not to get involved with CP, and then was subject to a game of chicken in the warm up ring. Fortunately, this rider and horse didn't scare easily, but I do believe you are either with him or against him. A nasty piece of work indeed...

You don't give warnings for merely causing "DQ drama".One of the favourite warm up ring intimidations is to drive your stallion/gelding right up the backside of a young mare.

It is a shame that Mikala didn't have the ride she was expecting...but that's horses isn't it?....to be fair, I was observing the warm up and there was no verbal warning from the steward, and certainly there was no intentional behavior from Cesar Parra: the steward simply walked over and placed herself between the two horses. Mikala seemed to be having difficulty with her mare prior to this "incident", riding the horse with the chin to the chest. It seems like dressage news is just trying to stir up drama...

Yes I'd rather have some objective observations of what happened than what we have seen on this thread- even though I'm not a fan of Cp

It seems there is some history between the parties and that can work both ways.

Not a fan of CP but still won't join a pile on without more facts.

Another incident ? We haven't found out what the first one was.

The picture you're referring to doesn't show much. The area looks very crowded, with horses passing between a tractor and a fence, and a woman on the ground by the tractor. It's impossible to accurately tell what's going on.
