I've seen girls keeping their collars unrolled or popped, I should say in the smaller height jumpers. Is this a fad? What are your opinions on it? Is this acceptable? I foundapicture across my tumble and was just wondering.
I like the idea of it (cooler, etc), but really don't care for the look with a coat. I can see it actually looking better without a coat. It reminds me of a man wearing a suit with no tie. Just doesn't look right to me.

I wouldn't call that a popped collar. That's just a show shirt with an unbuttoned collar. I don't like the look, although it bothers me less without a jacket. I (personally) think it looks sloppy with a coat.
This is a popped collar -- it's what you do to a polo shirt:
Daphne Alcock was DQ'd at Upperville in the GP for having an open collar.
Well duh. Buttoning your collar in the GP seems like a no brainer to me. I might do it without a coat since I'm super sensitive to heat and live in Arizona, but only in the non nominated divisions (which is presently all I'm doing anyway. Ha!) and only if my trainer weren't around. I think he'd have a conniption. We're to be neat, tidy and fashionable at all times.
Generally it's in classes where those that can wear a polo or EIS shirt but since some people show both a hunter and jumper they're already in a show coat and shirt. For a lot of those people it's uncomfortable to wear it buttoned. Personally I keep mine unbuttoned until the second I step in the ring because I have a fat neck... It's grounds for disqualification in a GP because GPs call for formal attire.
I did it once when I didn't have time to change from my show shirt into a polo between hunter and jumper classes. It was just a schooling 1.10 round. I took the jacket off. It was also 100 degrees outside.
