NOT the compact event watch i love the way it looks, but you can't ever turn off the minute beep or alarm! i wanted to be able to use it every day, since i time my rides to make sure i warm her up long enough. i contacted dover and the OT company, but they said you just can't turn it off O_o

I just use a cheap, easy-to-read ironman watch from Target. Works for me!

The enormous yellow one - I tried smaller ones and invariably I fat fingered it and realized about 1:30 in that my watch wasn't timing.

Me too. It's got huge numbers (not as huge as the "eventing watch", but certainly big enough) and is easy to set - and I got it on clearance for $7.

    Yep. $7.

Those OT watches are notorious for failing when you change the battery (once I had one that worked, but no longer beeped at all). I too have gone back to Timex land.
