Default How much does it cost to replace the insulation in a garage door?

So stupid me locked the dog in the barn by closing our big garage door. When I came back she had ripped the crap out of the insulation!!
I need to replace this before my husband sends me divorce papers!
What are we talking cost-wise? Is this something I can do myself?

    what kind of insulation?

It should not cost too much. Head down to the nearest Home Depot/Lowe's store, they should have something to put in (styrofoam panels are the easiest to fit)

    It's white, with styrofoam-ish insulation.

Take a picture of the inside of the door with you, and measure the size involved. The brand of door might help also.

it is not a big deal to replace

The foam panels can be replace once you figure out what type and style of door you have.

First thing to do is to look at the outside of the end styles....usually the manufacturers name and a model number will be on the ID tape.... if it was special ordered the purchasing dealer's name will be imprinted on the label. This will be looking at the end of the door by the track and rollers... the vertical piece is the end style.

Was the backing on the inside a plastic film? or was there no backing?

In the future (next door or in anopther lifetime), you can get the doors with metal backing that seals the insulation into the door.... and would keep puppy from gaining access

If you have trouble figuring out who to contact PM me I have listing of dealers across the country

I think that it is simple rigid foam insulation which you can buy sheets of at HD or Lowes or the local lumber yard. You can fit the new panels by cutting them with a Stanley knife and a metal ruler. You can buy foam insulation adhesive in caulking tube form for sticking the foam onto the panels. Just measure the foam's thickness before going to Lowes, etc. The material comes in 2x8 and 4x8 sizes, I believe.
