Default How much does a 2 horse BP weigh?

Does anyone know how much those smaller, 2 horse BP trailers with no dressing room etc. weigh? I'm not finding anything online, and some sellers I've contacted just gave me some random guesses I can't really trust lol.

    Thanks!

Really depends on the trailer. Is it steel? Steel frame with aluminum skin?

If you find a specific trailer, either go on the manufacturer's web site or, in case of an older trailer, email the manufacturer with the year/make/model of the trailer & ask.

They vary widely depending on materials, maker and options. If you find one you are serious about, you need to get its exact weight. I've seen as low as 1500 and as high as 4800 for a 2 horse.

hmmm I'm looking at Brenderups but the cost is giving me some serious sticker shock, so I'm taking a peek at some other options.

If I get the maker and details, can I contact the manufacturer for the weight? Some of these are out of state so I can' hop over to take it to a scale.

Trailer manufacturers are generally very helpful. You will need to have the make, model & year of the trailer. An email or quick phone call should provide you with all the info you need.

My Hawk (2h/dressing room/ramp) was 3300 lbs empty. The same trailer without a dressing room is 2780.

My Merhow 2H BP, with a ramp, escape doors at either side and a little front area for the person, weighs 1700lbs empty. It's aluminum on a steel frame. Pulling it with a Ram 1500 I am barely aware it is there.

I had another Merhow previously that was also 2H BP with a dressing room at the front and it weight 5,500lbs - it was hideously heavy. I presume it was steel although can't remember.

Featherlite 2 horse bumper pull, step up, no dressing room, all aluminum - 1900lbs. I called several manufacturers when shopping for mine and easily got the weights.

Rice Farmer's Hunt model, 1984 - label on it says it weighs 1,320 lbs. It's aluminum and fiberglass on a steel frame.

Mine (steel, 7' interior height, fiberglass roof, two horse no dressing room, mats & padding & spare) weighs in around 2950. So call it 3,000 empty. Suprisingly heavy little trailer!

My Brenderup Royal TC has the little tack compartment up front that holds 2 saddles and the rest of my junk quite nicely. I weighed it myself and it came in at 1785 pounds although the manufacturer said it was suppsed to be in the 1400 range. No matter, it is still a dream to pull. And best part about it, when parked in the garage, I can roll it around to move it out of the way all by myself, NOT hitched up. Nice perk . . . .

Sadly I'm putting it up for sale. LOVE this trailer, hands down the greatest thing they ever built. However . . . it doesn't come in a three-horse model

Widely variable -- my steel 2H WITH a dressing room weighs around 2,300 empty. But I love stock sides, so that reduces some weight -- a fully enclosed trailer will just add weight. You'd have to check the tag on each one.

I would LOVE a brenderup, then I won't have to upgrade to a truck, but keep my large SUV (more gas than a car, but less than a truck!). But My budget is sub 5K, not sure if I can find one in that range!

Keep looking! I just bought one in that price range. ;-) Other than needing a good wash, it's in great shape, and I can pull it with my Suburban.

BTW, it weighs about 1700 lbs.

I had an older steel circle j (extra tall and wide) that was 2300 lbs. Fiberglass roof. It had some aesthetic rust and was fugly but was otherwise was very solid, and a great open layout. Loved that trailer! Sold it for $2700 when I upgraded last year.
where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?
