Unhappy Jingles for my Pom Great news in OP!!!!

My Pom has been battling diarrhea since Christmas. Most of the time she is fine but still has occasional bouts here and there. She has been on two separate courses of antibiotics but her blood work showed her white cell count was higher than ever today. They are sending some blood out for testing to see if she has lymphoma. Praying that is not the case.

The vet just called and the news is even better than we had hoped! She is completely fine! She said that Macy is slightly anemic which made her blood cells different sizes. I guess her machine read those different sizes as white cells. Once the pathologist looked at it and did his own counts they were totally normal. So not only no lymphoma but not even an infection. The power of the Jingle! Thank you!

Thank you! I am so worried. She seems fine, it is so hard to imagine she could be deathly ill. Hopefully it's just a persistent infection and another abx knocks in out.

No, we just found out there was a problem today. They sent blood to a pathologist and we'll go from there.

Good luck!! My jack russel had horrible diarrhea for 3 weeks, major straining and constant dripping. It was horrible, we thought lymphoma for sure. Metronidazole and tylosin did nothing for him, in the end it was the Baytril that got his diarrhea under control.

She stopped the diarrhea after a couple doses of the metronidazole. She was fine for a several weeks then stopped eating so we drew blood again and her white cell count was even higher so we did another abx, can't remember what the second one was. That seemed to do the trick right away as well. Last week she has two days of slightly squishier and more frequent poop than usual as well as having to be encouraged to eat but has seemed fine since then. She was actually having her teeth cleaned today and the pre-op bloodwork showed the highest white count yet so we stopped and send the blood off for testing.
