Love, love Triple Crown Senior .. and the horse doesn't have to be "senior." It also would be super easy for your boarding barn staff to feed vs. adding oil, etc.

My horse got a little ribby at the end of last winter. She tends towards hot and ulcers. Here's what's worked for her (other than hay):

TC Senior 1 1/2 qt am & pm and 1 qt for lunch
2 qts alflafa pellets, 2 cups canola oil, water - lunch

that's it. In the summer I take out the 1 qt of senior for lunch and decrease the oil a bit. On this diet horse looks great. I've fed the alfafa pellets wihtout adding anything when I've run out of oil and never had a problem. They don't make my horse hot at all, if anything they calm her down as I feed them right before she works which seems to make her belly happier.

Rice bran, oil, and beet pulp are all good ingredients to add calories in a healthy way.
