    Default Stitches Advice

On Monday my horse had a 3 inch cut a couple inches above his cornet band on the front of his front leg.. He got 5 stitches and I'm wondering when I can start him back into work?

    Thanks for the input!

It's not really mid nor west

I would ask your vet. I'm guessing movement should be kept to a minimum right now.

Definitely check with your vet because too much movement too early before it's sealed up can tear it open and you'll have to have it re-cut and re-stitched all over again. Ask me how I know...

land of the Canucks aka West Coast B.C.

In the cases I have dealt with are generally rehab from surgery cases and are on stall rest anyways or not broken in yet. But most times, horse ca resume light work or hand walking/bigger yard/paddock when stitches are removed (10 days normally).

That area is a fairly tough area to keep together and looking good as is with all the movement it does.

    Jingles for quick recovery!
