Default Finding Race Photos for OTTB

My newest acquisition is a 2000 ottb mare (JC "Estrokal"). I know her races were ... well ... low stakes and she never finished higher than 3rd, so odds of her having race photos are low. http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Res...284&registry=T

But her sire, Inherent Kal, had a good racing history with 19 wins over a long career http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Res...170&registry=T

and her dam, Estronew, had two first place wins http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Res...278&registry=T

I've exhausted all internet options and was hoping this forum could help.

Here are non-racing photos of my sweet, sweet girl. She's called Mocha and I plan to show her under the name Peppermint Mocha (she has a love of peppermints so it seemed like a fit!)

I'm actually surprised how poorly she did racing. Maybe she just is too sweet and doesn't like to compete with others lol

AzuWish, I would suspect that her parents' wins were too long ago for you to be able to find win pictures. I doubt the track photographers would have photos or negatives that old, except maybe of the big races. Perhaps you could try to make contact with whoever owned or trained each of the horses at the time of their wins..?
Regardless, it looks like you have a very nice mare there. She is really attractive and obviously talented away from the racetrack!

Thank you, Charing! I'm absolutely smitten with her. I've been riding her for nearly 2 years for a friend, and I knew it would just kill me if my friend ever sold her — so I took her for myself!

She still loves the occasional gallop. I think she remembers her first job VERY well and definitely must have enjoyed it, but she's natural with dressage, jumping and cross country! We have our first HT in May.

I tried to reach out to her former owners/jockeys/etc late last year with zero luck (some have jail records, eek). I tried to reach out to the people who bred Inherent Kal in California and hit some roadblocks I never really bothered to push.

I'm guessing if any photos they are old (IK is a 1983 and EN is a 1988) and likely not on the web either. If I contact the tracks where they raced, would they have a digitized file?

I would think you should have a reasonable chance of turning up a win shot for the sire. Start with the most recent, call the track and ask for the photographer and see what they have. You might be able to turn up something for the dam as well.

But since your mare didn't win anything, and wasn't ever near the front of the pack when the first horse crossed the finish line, I think you're probably out of luck there.

Simkie, I thought at one point I had found what tracks my mare had raced at before, but now I'm not finding where I discovered that information to replicate for the sire. Can you point me in the right direction?

Thank you all for your help! I know I'm being silly — but I'm proud of my little girl. I'd love to see what her sire looked like.

I just found the info where I got stuck trying to find IK's breeder. The Calif. tb breeders assoc. did not have his current info, I believe. His name is Arthur Svihla. Owner of both her parents was Dale E. Dearth. I've never been able to find any way to contact him.

Mocha's owner was Calcy Lee Prescott. Unfortunately, searching Mocha's owner reveals little but this http://www.mugshotsworld.com/CALCY-LEE-PRESCOTT (it's not a common name but I suppose if could be a different Calcy Lee Prescott; and innocent until proven guilty, of course)

    It's in the equibase results:

Click "results" to expand. Look under "track."

Yeah, what Simkie said. Sorry- I thought I'd posted the "results" page instead of just the general info page.
