Hello western people.

Just wanted to share a short video of my pony practicing our western jog, comments appreciated! I know we have to slow it down a bit, but our goal is (VERY) local pleasure and/or horsemanship, plus I plan on continuing to jump and do dressage with him as well, so I don't want to lose that rhythm! Just so proud of my little dude being able to do just about everything I ask him to!

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing, including his speed. It has a nice quality to it in the video; I think if you tried to slow him up any, you'd wreck that. Obviously if you can get him conditioned to going slow but correct, more power to you!

I LOVE that his eye is in line with your knee and that for the most part his poll is just a tad higher than his wither. He looks like he's going somewhere with intent instead of trying to find a spot to dig a hole and die (which is the impression I get in most stock breed WP shows).

I think you got an awesome pony there!

Thank you thank you! I will hopefully have some lope video soon as well to share, THAT needs more work for sure! He moves exactly like my cutting bred QH, same headset, same speed, same rhythm...and we cleaned house in the local walk/jog classes in Western Pleasure.

Depending on the judge, you don't need a peanut roller to be in the ribbons!
