Adolescent feral kitten (7 mos.) needs a barn home (Baltimore MD)
This 7-month-old feral kitten came into BARCS, the Baltimore City animal shelter, with her brother -- they were trapped by a resident who didn't want them hanging around. The shelter has kept them a month, trying to socialize them, but they're still terrified... a shelter is not a good place for a feral kitty! So BARCS decided to just fix them and release them back where they were living because they seemed healthy.
Unfortunately the male kitten died unexpectedly during surgery. So now it's just the girl kitty (Rae) all alone. Rather than releasing her, I'd like to try to find her a barn home. She's spayed, vaccinated, tested, and eartipped. Ideally she would go to a barn with existing kitties, or another needy feral-ish cat from BARCS. No adoption fee.
I'll deliver anywhere within 2 hours of Baltimore. Cats need to be kept in crates (provided) for two weeks at a new location to get them acclimated. You can read more about the BARCS barn cat program here.
I picked this girl up and was supposed to take her back to her neighborhood and release her, but ran out of time and just stashed her in a crate at my house for the night... and as soon as she saw other cats, she started to purr and is now letting me pet her. She's still very skittish, but REALLY interested in other cats and would probably do great in a barn home.
