Well, at least we definitively know what year Series 3 ended in. Series 4 could be early winter 1921 or early '22. So WWII is still 15 years away (hopefully the heir will be too young to go early or even at all). The Market crash of '29 is still 8 years away. I thought there was an end to defacto entailment of property meaning Lord Grantham could leave DA to Lady Mary, but now I can't find any reference to back that up.

According to wikipedia, entail was done away with in 1925.

Thank you for posting the preview pics. I am so looking forward to Season 4, plus Mad Men's new season starts in April.

It is great wind down on Sunday night from busy weekends with horses.

I'd really like some more horse scenes... The horses in Scotland in the last episode of Season 3 were SO gorgeous (and I mean the fancy black harness horses AND the sturdy stalking ponies...) But I know as you get more into the 1920s there will be fewer horses around, sigh. (Do the Granthams still foxhunt?)
