Very nice. Has anyone heard of any imminent competition plans for Alf? I know she'd intended to bring him out again this year, but I wonder if that's still likely.

FYI Paula, Carl Hester was originally trained by Laura B's father... so perhaps of some interest to you after all.

(Fwiw I agree about the fascination with the disgustingly well-off, but I think quite highly of the Bechtolsheimer family in general).

Poor Laura. She looked radiant, lovely and happy.

Shame she had to be upstaged by that Kate-who would look gorgeous dressed as a scarecrow!
Some riders change their horse, they change their saddle, they change their teacher; they never change themselves.

That's right! That's where I heard the name and associated the wrong woman. I do respect them -he writes that he made his bones there because they didn't spend a lot to purchase a horse, so he got to train all kinds.

    Dr Wilfried Bechtolsheimer - timesonline.co.uk

Ursula Bechtolsheimer, 66, is the daughter of German billionaire Karl-Heinz Kipp, whose fortune is put at £3.1 billion by Forbes. Kipp, 84, founded the Massa chain of stores in 1948 and sold up in 1985, but kept the freehold of his sites, which he rents out. His daughter moved to Britain with Wilfried, her husband, to educate their children at public schools. The family runs a horse training and breeding centre in Gloucestershire. Daughter Laura, pictured, represented Britain in the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games. The blonde 22-year-old Bristol University graduate is pinning her hopes on the 2012 Olympics. The couple also have three sons, Felix, 31, singer with rock group Hey Negrita, Goetz, 28, and Till, 25. Felix battled heroin addiction and now tours prisons helping others. We expect Ursula will one day inherit a slice of the Kipp fortune. For now, we value the family at £105m.

Well, let's just be glad that they are redistributing some of that loot into our sport.

She looks lovely. I hope they will be very happy.
