What the heck? Just got back in from the barn where I discovered that my 14 y/o TB's left eye has a white, cloudy film over part of it, like a cataract, but it has never been there before and was not there yesterday. His eye otherwise looks totally fine--not swollen, weepy, pussy, or anything else at all. Thoughts?
Just called the vet. He said "That sounds serious," and he's kind of a casual dude who doesn't usually make those sorts of statements. He is in surgery all day today and will hopefully be able to come out this evening.
I'm very glad you are on top of it. Corneal abrasions can become corneal ulcers which become non-healing corneal ulcers requiring extensive lavage systems and meds and surgery and owner stress and the risk of losing vision/eye in no time. So much easier on everyone to jump on it from the get-go!
As Peter, Paul, and Mary say, a dragon lives forever.
