    holy. crap.
My mare wonders about all this fuss about birth control when she's only seen a handful of testicles in her entire life. Living with an intact male of my species, I feel differently! WAYSIDE

That is what breast collars are for, that one time you forgot to tighten your girth.

I expect that landing was followed by rodeo time?

So before your horse you straddle,
Do be sure to check your saddle.

There are a whole series of pictures of this horse and rider... amazingly the saddle started slipping several jumps before and in each picture the saddle is farther and farther back!... why wouldn't you pull up before you ended up in that position?

Can you link to the photo series?
Strangely enough, if you look at where the sweat stain is from the girth, it looks like the girth and saddle had been slipped way back for quite a while.

I saw this on my FB with the notation that it was from ... drumroll... the Modern Pentathlon Competition near Palm Springs.

The photos are on their FB page. Here's a link to the album, but I don't know if non-FB people can view: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3450530&type=1

    Wow, Pentathlon. Color me surprised.

I saw the photo series and noticed this was NOT the only jump this guy took with a majorly slipped saddle. In the name of all that's good and holy, why the **** would someone not pull up?!?! You can't tell me he didn't notice, before/after the astroturf jump......

I am more amused that MM seems to taken it on as a life goal to post photos on every forum around.

Wow. I love the horse's expression here: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater

    What a game, honest fellow.

And the rider doesn't even seem to realize something is wrong here

This one is giving me flash backs of that horse that flipped at the Olympics.

Can't say I am fan of this sport.

“Riding a horse is not a gentle hobby, to be picked up and laid down like a game of solitaire. It is a grand passion. It seizes a person whole and once it has done so, he/she will have to accept that his life will be radically changed.”
Lets leave the competive riding to those who have a passion for it.

Like how the horse gets punished in the mouth - after he was so kind to jump two fences with what equates to a bucking strap.

I briefly observed a coach of the Canadian Pent team riding yesterday. That barn was pretty busy, and I didn't get a chance to chat with him. I am so curious to pick his brain a little.
