HB Classes- Can I show in a Non-TB 2 year old class and Ammy Handler?
I am not a professional but I was told I could handle my 2 year old colt in the HB classes against the professionals. My question is if I am allowed to also handle him in the ammy handler classes as well?
Yes you are an amateur, showing in the non restricted classes doesn't keep you from showing in the amateur classes. As long as it is your horse you are holding in both.
Actually to show in the Am. Handler classes, you don't have to hold your own horse, you just have to be an amateur.
I guess technically you wouldn't have to hold your own horse in the open classes either, but you might look a bit suspect in terms of keeping your amateur status.

I used to take my 2 year old colt in the Ammy Handler (it was the first class then) as his "prep" and would stand him myself in the Non TB 2 yr old. He did very well and won Zone 2 with little old me at the reins, and I think 6th nationwide with limited showing.
