Thanks amastrike! New horsehair bracelet style
I have been asked to make a guys horsehair bracelet by a few people. so I finally got one done. Thanks to guy friends, lol I had to ask them what a bracelet needed to look like to get them to wear horse hair. Heres what I came up with.

The stitching isn't perfect, I had to redo it a couple of times figuring out the buckle. but what do you think? How can I improve it?
Thanks!

Oh yea, I forgot to mention, Thanks to amastrike because the horse hair I used to make this bracelet, was from the extra that amastrike sent to me.

I love it!! Heck, I'd wear that before most of the "ladies" ones, looks like it would really hold up well as well.

I have the tail hair from my heart horse I had to put down in Oct. I was trying to think of a couple of things that could be done with it. I wanted something for myself and something for the girl who used to ride with me on him. She's living in Hawaii now.
I had thought of a fly whisk. But also thought a bracelet might be nice. The idea of a belt would be cool. How long would the tail hairs have to be for and of those, and how much would you need thickness wise?

That is a very cool design!
Did you glue or sew the braid on the leather piece?
I don't know how a belt made like this would hold up to daily use, but I've always wanted to try that kind of bracelets, I've seen some where the braid is recessed into the leather - gorgeous.
I've only ever made the basic, V-style braid with sterling silver sliders, even men bought them, lol.
Ottbs - The finish line is only the beginning!

Thanks guys! Yes my sister is requesting a belt now, lol. I don't know how much hair it would take to make a belt. I usually need about 12" and about a pencil's thickness for a ladies bracelet. but this one, it was a little thicker.
I glued the braid down, then reinforced it with 10# fishing line stitching.
This bracelet is currently out on trial. lol I asked my friend to wear it and see what it can handle, and let me know when he brakes it. (he is hard on stuff)
I have done a hat band for a friend a long time ago, that was fun!
This one sure is "tougher" than the ladies ones, better for barn wear. I am working on making the ladies ones stronger. They are super strong, but if they have beads, and dangly parts, then those would break.
I appreciate all the feed back! Thanks!
