Default Decorate This Kitchen Oh Please!

If this were your kitchen, what colors would you put on the walls? Floor is light linoleum (you can see it I think).

I don't like plain cream walls and like most anything, even bold color. I do not leave appliances out except a black Keurig. Most of my dishes are royal blue/cream.

I would use something like these light grey, tan and brown skinny and long rectangular glass tile for the backsplash:

Then use darker brown for the rest of the walls?

Or leave the upper walls that color, or light grey.
Then brown or burnt orange on the left wall.

Look thru the millions of pictures in that site.
It will keep bringing pictures up as you look, depending on what you choose, as "if you like that, you may want to see this too".

I will do that, I have bookmarked it

I have some Dala horse stuff already, it's in bold bright reds and blues like this--

You can't have burnt orange if you have blue and cream dishes. And if it's not 1976.

But you can have a light sky/teal color on one wall.

ETA: the black appliances mean you need to go darker on that if you want to be conservative. Or bust it up and stay light if you want bold.

A cheery robin's egg or Tiffany blue wall color would go well with those cabinets and black appliances:

Set it off with white or cream. Love this backsplash:

Or go with a very simple, classic look:

You could also use a tan grout to pick up the color of the laminate countertop:

Or a backsplash that picks up the laminate color:

If you're going to replace the laminate, here are a few granite colors:

Go to FinishedKitchens blog for great ideas -- look at the slideshows. http://finishedkitchens.blogspot.com/

Okaaaay, I just spent waaay too long doing that!

You could have a cool, slightly blue grey if you wanted a "guy and modern" kitchen.

    Some sort of muted blue.

Or bright red (think Coca-Cola) but only for accent.

My kitchen's color scheme is similar to yours except for white instead of black appliances (only my microwave is black). I've done blues because a friend gave me a variety of blue-and-white dish towels, and red because red is my favorite color.

Now off to play on Bluey's color web site link!

what a gorgeous base kitchen you have to start with...I'm sure whatever you decide on will be beautiful! I love that first link that was put in there, wish I had the wall space to do that but our kitchen walls are pretty compact.

I used a sort of muted green on my walls - available at Home Depot, and the color is called Lion. It looks fantastic. I painted my cabinets black and added granite tops. The granite pattern is called Uba Tuba and is green/black/brown. (Disclaimer - I worked for a builder at the time and our granite supplier gave us a significant discount).

For the backsplash, I went simple with 4x4 tumbled travertine tiles.

Now, if I could just do something about the ugly appliances. . .sigh.
