Default Mattress builds too much heat

We have a ComforPedic (great for my back) but it retains so much heat I've been looking at gel pads for dog beds! Anyone been there and have some words of wisdom? I hate that I'm freezing on top and sweating underneath...

I have the same problem so I've been sleeping on the couch a lot, which is actually better for my back anyway.

We have a TempurPedic which i hate for the same reasons. My wool fleece mattress pad helps a bit.

we have a latex topper over our temperpedic knock off. works all right, i use a thickish cotton blanket under the sheets to absorb the night sweats.
