Have been told from day 1- never wrap any ropes/leadlines around any part of your body. Tragic.

    Horrible, condolences to the family.

Yes, attaching anything to you – then the horse is very dangerous. Ropes looped around hands, ropes on the ground around feet – all very dangerous.

That is why it freaks me out when those NH people let the long ropes (strings) collect on the ground around their feet while they lung (play games?) – one rope tangled around a foot could spell disaster.

This woman was a dear friend of mine and a huge supporter of urban horses. Renee and her company, VetriScience, sponsored the brunch last year at our ClipClop event. She was one of those people who everybody loved - pretty, bubbly, friendly, super-smart, accomplished, principled, and genuine. Enormous, enormous loss for all the humans and animals in her world.

You can read more about her and pics at these links (including her beautiful Central Park wedding with carriages, which was less than a year ago):

I'm just warning folks... if you click on the pictures...(and you should)...you will cry. I never met Renee, but she was so beautiful, and so happy and so full of love- the wonderful person she was just jumps out of the pictures and just breaks your heart to think of all the people who love her so- now facing life without her. RIP sweet soul.

She was gorgeous and seemed to radiate happiness; I'm so sorry this has happened. What a horrible, horrible tragedy.

Let's all be reminded to always be safe with ropes around horses - all it takes is a split second to change history.

Such a tragedy, and a reminder to us all to not get too complacent about safety around our big companions. Rest in Peace, Renee.

That is SO sad. I know that as an experienced horse person, I sometimes get a little lax about basic safety. This is a sobering reminder. Godspeed Renee. Thank you Michaeleenflynn for sharing her beautiful smile.

There are no words. I'm sorry seems so inadequate, but it's all I have.

We are all so used to our own horses that we never think it will happen to us. Let this serve as a reminder to all of us that accidents happen and we should never be complacent. She looked like a beautiful woman with a big smile. I am so sorry for all those who she left behind.

Michaleenflynn, I'm so sorry. This is so tragic.

We all have our moments of complacency with safety rules...it just takes once, and only a few seconds. Sobering reminder to be vigilant.

Condolences and prayers to all who knew and loved her.

Michaleenflynn, thank you for posting the pictures. Putting a face and a history with the story makes it even sadder. Sending her family comfort and strength for the difficult times to come...

Something so simple that is so easy to do (wrap the lead around your arm once) .... how tragic.
Condolences to her family and friends.
