I use Microsoft Security Essentials on all my work computers and home. I recommend it to my clients as well. Thus far it has done a great job. And as someone else said, the price is right.
I also run Spybot in addition.

Excellent timing! My free trial of Symantec is due to run out soon and I'm reaaally not interested in buying something or even worse, maintaining a subscription! I had Symantec in the past but was rather unimpressed and got a couple of bugs that I shouldn't have.

AVG, interspersed with Avira. I like AVG, but if it keeps thinking my iTunes processes are viruses, it's getting uninstalled in favor of Avira.

I also use MalwareBytes which I like just about unconditionally.

iTunes has had problems with AVG in the past. You can add programs and applications to a whitelist that AVG will use and that keeps false positives down when programs connected to your core software are running.

Avast! Have used it for about seven years and have never had a virus. It's free and works better than the Microsoft program. There was a CNET story on anti-virus program tests just recently. http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-3667_7-...security-test/ I hate McAfee and Norton.

Here is a place to evaluate anti-virus programs for home users--well, all users, but this is place to start for home users.
