The dark shadowy place. You must never go there, Simba.
Calling All COTH Seamstresses/MacGyvers!
I've blown out the crotch in one of my favourite pairs of Tailoreds. It's not a tear in the seam, but rather the fabric has just worn through and a hole is starting to form in a very unsightly place.
These breeches are completely fine everywhere else, and they aren't that old, so I'm not quite ready to toss them out. Is there any sort of patch job that can be done to salvage these breeches? They're hacking breeches only, so I don't mind if it's not a perfect patch-job - I just would like them to be functional without exposing my lady-bits to other people riding with me.
My mother makes handbags for a designer and she brings home scraps of leather all the time. Any blowouts in the crotch area of my breeches generally get patched up with those. No matter what the leather is........I have a pair of Tuff Riders with a black ostrich patch in that area.......I think I also have a pair of Tropical Rider leather full seats with an alligator patch.
Anyway, patching works fine and it's not that difficult to do.
Ummm - Why can't I stop laughing when I read that???
I have a several pairs of those lightweight riding tights that I patch up constantly cuz they're just too comfy to throw out. Using a soft leather makes them even tougher in the crotch, knee and thigh areas
Agree with patches. You can get them sewn on just around the edges or sewn all over so it's even more solid. My mom did that with several pairs of jeans I had along the inseam. If you have a crappy pair of TS's you can use those or just buy a patch from Joann's.
